A picnic on the North Shore of Oahu is one of life’s special pleasures. While you’re here, be sure to enjoy a scrumptious outdoor spread amidst stunning scenery.
Remember:
• Picnics don’t have to be at lunch. Go at breakfast or supper to enjoy splendid solitude.
• Bring a tablecloth (you can improvise) for extra comfort and a touch of elegance.
• Beach Umbrella, Sun screen, and lots of bottled water is recommended.
Each of our Picnic Places has views of the horizon over the pacific, and miles of open sand for walking off the awesome meal you just ate. Romantic sunsets can be enjoyed year round.
View our online interactive map for general directions to each of the picnic areas listed below or Purchase our Oahu Guide map for detailed directions and information.

Off Kamehameha Highway (Highway 83) 0.6 mile north of La'ie town;
110.0 acres
Sunset Beach Park
With picnic tables, grassy areas, showers, and restrooms near the parking lot of this beach park itll be a much better view to take off your shoes and tread thru the crystal white sand for a picnic on the beach, literally. Measuring 2 miles long and 300 ft. wide; foot by foot this is probably the sandiest beach on Oahu. Wonderful tidepools make great for swimming, snorkeling, and collecting shells. In the winter this is a perfect setting to watch surfers brave the big waves.
Public amenities: parking, restrooms, phones, showers, picnic tables, stunning views of the pacific ocean.
Pupukea “white shell” Beach Park
Pupukea is about 80- acres of rocky shore that narrowly runs along Kamehameha highway.
Two beaches that are among the most popular dive sites on the North Shore that make this park a destination are Three Tables and Sharks Cove. These two “small pockets of beach access” offer a mixture of grass, sand and shallow tidepools, perfect for a tropical picnic in paradise.
Although this park offers 5 star water activities during the summer, powerful winter surf puts a restraint on most of these activities in the park.
A local Fire Station is located in the center of the park right next to an outdoor volleyball/basketball court and just across the street from Foodland (a local Grocery store).
Public amenities: parking, restrooms, phones, showers, picnic tables, basketball court.
Hale’iwa Beach Park
A worthy day-in-the-country destination, Hale’iwa beach park hosts a childrens playground, bathrooms, plenty of shaded areas with picnic tables, and jet-ski rentals nearby. Considered the gateway into historic Hale’iwa town you cannot miss this huge open field, beach, and historic monument. A favorite location for family picnic and beach activities. This Beach park also hosts festivals like the Hale’iwa arts festival and carnivals during the summer.
Public amenities: Lots of parking, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, basketball court.
Ali’i Beach Park
Hale’iwa’s Ali’i beach park is just across the boat harbor from Hale’iwa beach park and never feels crowded. Bathrooms, plenty of shaded grassy areas with picnic tables make this a beautiful setting for a picnic with your special ones. Baywatch Hawaii, a popular television show, did a great deal of filming at this beach. A favorite location for family picnic and field activities.
Ali’i beach park hosts festivals like the “Sunset on the Beach” a two day event that features movies, live entertainment, an open-market and a wide selection of food, held every year in late July.
Public amenities: Lots of parking, restrooms, phones, showers, picnic tables, basketball court.
